FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. Why do you write this blog?
· It started out as a meager way to communicate shooting experiences with a couple of friends in Arizona. As time went on, and much to my surprise, more and more people began reading, asking questions, and providing commentary.
2. How many people are on your staff?
· Are you kidding? Just me, Average Joe. I shoot the firearms, take the photographs, and write the copy. Well… Doc Wesson helps with the website…
3. Why don't you write more often?
· Shooting and writing are hobbies and like most hobbies I don't get to do them as much as I would want to. This is not my job and unfortunately no one is paying me to write, no one is providing me with free handguns or free ammunition. When I haven't written in a while it either means I don't have anything new or my real, paying job is requiring more of my time at the moment.
4. If the manufacturers are not providing you with free firearms how do you get them?
· Some are borrowed and some are rented. But mostly I am always buying, selling, or trading.
5. I have requested that you review a particular firearm, why haven't you done it?
· I can't find one (remember I can't call up a manufacturer and request that they send one for evaluation).
· It doesn't fall into the "genre" of Average Joe's Handgun Reviews which is defensive, carry guns.
· I can't afford it.
6. I posted a comment; why doesn't it appear in the comments section?
· I haven't had time to moderate the comments (which is usually the case).
· The point of the comment was not clear or did not pertain to the review.
· The comment was negative. I welcome questions or constructive criticism. In fact well thought out criticism is helpful. However, negative commentary is rude. If you don't like what I have written you are certainly entitled to your opinion but if it is mean spirited you are not entitled to see it posted on my blog.
7. Why don't you shoot from a ransom rest so that we can see the inherent accuracy of the firearm?
· They are not allowed on the range I shoot at and the range is not going to clear everyone off it so I can set up ransom rests and chronograph equipment. Sorry, but there aren't that many places to shoot in the urban area in which I live.
· I don't own one.
· I don't want to know how the firearm shoots when bolted down and fired mechanically; I want to know how well I can shoot said firearm. If you are that interested in ransom rest results that you will never be able to duplicate then read most any of the firearms related magazines on your news stand.
8. You don't seem to shoot very well.
· That's not a question.
· I am not a famous competitive shooter, gunsmith, or writer. The name of the blog is "Average Joe's Handgun Reviews" not "Professional Writer and Champion Pistol Shooter's Handgun Reviews".
9. Why don't you list the price of the firearms you review?
· I used to in the beginning but the retail price of firearms varies across the country. In most instances they are discounted from the manufacturer's suggested retail but that retail price is influenced by factors such as demand, cost of shipping, and the local retail competition.
· Whenever I listed the retail price I received commentary that either I paid too much or that there was no way I could have gotten the firearm at such a low price (usually it was that I paid too much).
· If someone read the blog and is interested in a particular gun they obviously have the means to check some sites like Gun Broker, Guns America, Impact Guns, or Bud's Gun Shop. Their prices will get you in the ball park and you can decide from there if you want to check with your local gun shops.
COPYRIGHT WARNING
As a Greek gun club recently found out all original material including words and photos are the property of Average Joe. If you wish to quote, copy, or otherwise use them you need to do three things:
1. Send me an email and ask permission; including a description of how the material will be used.
2. Receive my permission by return email.
3. Attribute the material to Average Joe's Handgun Reviews.
Average Joe is not the best wordsmith nor photographer but I do enjoy and take pride in what I write and the photos I take (especially the rare ones that turn out well). If people continue to steal my photos I will be forced to put a large obnoxious watermark on the photo spoiling most of the content (ever see a photo on TMZ.com?).
Also, if you find an Average Joe photo being used on another site which does not attribute the material to Average Joe's Handgun Reviews please be kind enough to let me know.
Thanks
